Ravenstein

The first time I visited Ravenstein, I saw a man playing the violin in the middle of the dome. Suddenly the whole environment came alive, no longer feeling empty or deserted. It felt whole again. The music I heard that day provided me with the solution for the increasingly deteriorating Ravenstein gallery.

With the assumption that the Ravenstein would become the centre of Brussels’ music scene, I started to work. I opened up the gallery to music shops, music players, events, concerts, exhibitions and music instrument studios. The rooms are designed in such a way that visitors and musicians are obliged to always cross several studios, making the building a melting pot of musical creativity.
